Impact of University Grades on Salaries, based on Penguin Recruitment’s Data Analysis

Grades do Influence Starting Salaries in the Geo-Sector

At Penguin Recruitment, our specialist Geo-Sector team recently analysed the starting salaries of 130 geo-graduates. The findings? Well, it’s probably no surprise: The higher your university grade, the higher your starting salary!

Key Insight: Graduates with a First-class degree earned £865 more per annum compared to those with a 2:1.

And a 2:1 gives you an edge too, with earnings of £468 more than a 2:2.

Of course, we’re not suggesting that the grade achieved is the only factor in earning a higher starting salary, but it was interesting to see the actual monetary difference.

Clearly academic performance can play a crucial role in shaping your early career trajectory in the geo-sector. Reach out to us for guidance on maximising your potential.
