An established and progressive environmental consultancy is seeking an Ecologist to join its expanding team in the North East. This role offers the chance to contribute to a diverse portfolio of projects, supporting developments from initial planning stages through to implementation and ongoing environmental management.
The successful candidate will be part of a collaborative, multidisciplinary team delivering ecological expertise across a variety of sectors. Project work spans residential and mixed-use developments, major infrastructure, renewable energy schemes, green infrastructure, and large-scale habitat and nature recovery initiatives.

Key responsibilities will include:

Undertaking Ecological Impact Assessments (EcIAs)

Delivering Preliminary Ecological Appraisals (PEAs)

Supporting Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) assessments and strategies

Carrying out protected species surveys (such as bats, great crested newts, birds, and reptiles)

Conducting habitat surveys and condition assessments

Assisting in the preparation of mitigation, enhancement, and long-term management plans
The ideal candidate will have:

A degree in Ecology or a related discipline

Practical field survey experience and knowledge of UK wildlife legislation

Strong report writing skills with attention to detail

A full UK driving licence
-
A proactive, organised approach and a genuine enthusiasm for ecology
