Principle Sustainability Consultant
Cardiff
I’m partnering with a leading engineering and sustainability consultancy known for delivering innovative, low-carbon design solutions across the built environment. They are now looking to appoint a Principal Sustainability Engineer to join their growing team.

Proven experience working as a Sustainability Consultant at Senior or Principal level
-
Strong technical knowledge in energy and building performance modelling
-
Proficiency with tools such as IES VE, Elmhurst, Part L and Part O assessments
-
Experience delivering environmental and wellbeing assessments (e.g., BREEAM, WELL, HQM)
-
Ability to lead sustainability workstreams across all RIBA stages
-
Demonstrated project leadership, including resource coordination and team oversight
-
Experience supporting planning applications and working with local authorities
-
Strong communication skills, including leading workshops and presenting to design teams
-
Ability to delegate, review work, and support the development of junior team members
Desirable Criteria

Experience with operational energy modelling (TM54, ApacheSim, ApacheHVAC)

Knowledge of NABERS UK or Design for Performance frameworks
-
Experience with whole life carbon assessments and tools such as OneClick LCA
-
Understanding of Passivhaus methodologies (e.g., PHPP)
-
Experience preparing circular economy statements or wider sustainability strategies
-
Involvement in fee proposal development
-
Line management experience
-
Working towards Chartership (Chartered status highly advantageous)
