JOB TITLE – TOWN PLANNER

LOCATION – EXETER

Penguin Recruitment is delighted to be supporting a respected planning and heritage consultancy in their search for a Town Planner to join their team in Exeter.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a specialist consultancy working across a diverse portfolio of projects including residential, rural, and heritage-led developments. The successful Town Planner will gain valuable experience across both planning and heritage considerations within a collaborative and supportive environment.


THE ROLE

You will be involved in delivering planning projects from initial appraisal through to submission and determination, supporting a wide range of clients.

This role offers the opportunity to work closely with both planning and heritage professionals, making it ideal for a Town Planner looking to broaden their expertise and work on sensitive and high-quality developments.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

* Preparing and managing planning applications and appeals
* Assisting with heritage statements and impact assessments
* Undertaking site appraisals and planning feasibility assessments
* Preparing planning statements and supporting documentation
* Liaising with Local Planning Authorities, conservation officers, and stakeholders
* Supporting senior team members on complex and heritage-led projects
* Attending site visits, client meetings, and consultations
* Conducting planning and heritage policy research


WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

* RTPI accredited degree in Town Planning or a related discipline
* Working towards MRTPI (or recently achieved)
* Experience within a planning consultancy or local authority environment
* Good understanding of UK planning policy and heritage legislation
* Strong written and verbal communication skills
* Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
* A proactive and collaborative approach
