A leading independent planning consultancy is looking to appoint an Assistant Town Planner to join their growing team in Cheltenham.

The Role

You’ll support senior planners on a wide variety of projects across the South West and beyond, gaining exposure to the full planning lifecycle. Responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting with the preparation and submission of planning applications and appeals
  • Supporting site appraisals, planning research, and policy reviews
  • Drafting reports, statements, and client advice
  • Liaising with local authorities, clients, and consultants
  • Contributing to project strategy and delivery

You’ll be joining a collaborative, hands-on team that works closely with clients, stakeholders, and multidisciplinary consultants to secure planning permission and unlock development potential.

About You

  • RTPI accredited degree (or working towards)
  • Previous experience in a consultancy or local authority setting (placement year considered)
  • Strong report writing and communication skills
  • A proactive, commercially aware mindset
  • Keen interest in UK planning policy and development
