Our Geotechnical Recruitment Team

Andy Hopkins

Originally a Civil Engineer, I commenced my recruitment career in 1996. I have always recruited within the technical disciplines and have significant business-as-usual and large-scale recruitment project experience.

I now focus on placing Ground Engineering professionals across a broad range of sectors, and I am often involved with the development of larger PSL clients.

My network is strong in the UK and New Zealand and I pride myself on making a difference for clients and candidates.

I live in Hereford with my wife and three kids. In my spare time I am usually planning my latest hard landscaping projects punctuated by the odd round of golf.

Joel Bullen

I aim to bring a friendly, knowledgeable and efficient approach to geotechnical industry recruitment. I enjoy building relationships with my wide-ranging client base, spending time getting to understand their particular needs. I have a track record of finding great new opportunities for talented engineers and consultants in geotechnics, environmental and all things geology.

In my spare time, I perform as a singer and guitarist at venues across the UK and I'm also a keen snooker player and cook.

Matt Cairns

I joined Penguin Recruitment after graduating with a BSc in Geography from Swansea University.

I now specialise in geotechnical and geoenvironmental recruitment, helping candidates to find their next career challenge and helping clients to expand and develop their teams.

Outside of work, I enjoy playing cricket, playing the drums and going to the beach.

William Lisle

I studied BSc History at Cardiff University and then headed straight into recruitment. I transitioned into Ground Engineering recruitment after previously covering the Manufacturing sector and now specialise in matching great candidates to roles across Geotechnical, Contaminated Land, Hydrogeology and Remediation.

Outside of work, I really enjoy football and rowing, having represented Cardiff University in rowing championships across the UK.
