Town Planner
Location: Cheltenham

Penguin Recruitment are delighted to be working with a well-established and highly respected property developer, in their search for a Town Planner. The successful candidate will be working on a diverse portfolio of residential, employment, and mixed-use schemes across the region. The role offers the chance to work client-side, taking projects through the planning process from early site appraisal to securing planning consent and supporting delivery.

The Role

As a Town Planner, you will be involved in a wide range of planning activities, including:

  • Managing and supporting planning applications, pre-applications, and appeals

  • Undertaking site appraisals and providing planning advice on development opportunities

  • Liaising with local planning authorities, consultants, and key stakeholders

  • Monitoring Local Plan policy and contributing to representations and promotions

  • Supporting land promotion and development strategy

  • Preparing clear, robust planning reports and recommendations

About You

The ideal Town Planner will have:

  • A degree or postgraduate qualification in Town Planning or a related discipline

  • Experience within a consultancy, local authority, or in-house development role

  • A strong understanding of the UK planning system and development management

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • The ability to manage multiple projects and work proactively

  • RTPI membership or progress toward chartership
