Responsibilities
As a Senior or Principal Town Planner, you will:
- Prepare and manage a variety of planning applications, appeals, and supporting documentation.
- Provide high-quality planning advice to clients across key sectors.
- Conduct site assessments, policy analysis, and pre-application discussions.
- Represent clients at planning committees, hearings, and community engagement events.
- Lead client communications and manage projects of varying complexity.
- Support and mentor junior colleagues, contributing to their professional development.
- Play an active role in business development and the growth of the Edinburgh office.
Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- MRTPI qualification with post-qualification experience as a Senior or Principal Town Planner.
- Strong knowledge of Scottish planning legislation, policy, and procedures.
- Proven ability to manage complex projects and meet client expectations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- A proactive and collaborative approach to working within a consultancy team.
Day-to-Day
Your typical day may include:
- Meeting with clients to discuss project requirements and provide planning advice.
- Preparing and submitting planning applications and appeals.
- Conducting site visits and liaising with local authorities.
- Attending planning committees, hearings, or public consultation events.
- Collaborating with colleagues on project strategies and deliverables.
- Mentoring junior team members and sharing your expertise.
