Renowned for lending their expertise to a diverse range of projects across the landscape architecture, planning, and civil engineering fields, they are currently on the lookout for a driven, talented Principal Civil Engineer with extensive knowledge of infrastructure design, who is willing to win, manage, and successfully deliver a diverse range of challenging projects across the region. You will have a genuine hand in establishing and leading a team of design professionals, based near the lively, culturally-diverse city of Glasgow.

Responsibilities for the role of Principal Civil Engineer include:
- Taking the lead on a number of high-profile infrastructure projects and developments
- Managing the day-to-day running of projects, from inception through to successful delivery and implementation
- Providing mentorship and support to colleagues as they progress, overseeing their Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
- Establishing and maintaining important professional relationships with clients and other stakeholders
- Preparing, checking, and submitting technical documents, including reports, drawings, calculations, risk assessments, and more
- Subscribing to and promoting company policies, procedures, and best practice at all times
- Enforcing the appropriate health and safety standards and regulations
- Contributing to the company’s business development strategies, acting as a trusted representative at client meetings, site visits, etc.
Required skills and experience for the role of Principal Civil Engineer include:
- A UK Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent qualification) in Civil Engineering
- Possess Chartered Status with a recognised Professional Body (e.g., ICE)
- Extensive experience in an infrastructure design role, within a UK consultancy or Local Authority
- Demonstrable experience of working with infrastructure (particularly drainage and highways), housing developments, and energy projects
- Experience of working on earthworks design and drainage network modelling
- Proficient in the use of various software packages (to include Civils 3D, MicroDrainage, AutoCAD, etc.)
- Considerable experience of writing, checking, and amending reports and other technical documents for submission
- Experience of managing people and projects within the industry
- Prior experience of managing client and stakeholder relations, influencing Business Development (BD) activity
- Outstanding organisation, time management, team leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Hold a full, valid UK driving licence
Desirable skills and experience for the role of Principal Civil Engineer include:
- A UK Higher Degree in a relevant discipline
- Experience of preparing Flood Risk Assessments and/or Transport Assessments
- Experience of working in a public-facing role
