We’re partnering with a highly respected environmental consultancy to recruit an experienced Principal Air Quality Consultant who will play a pivotal part in strengthening and growing their UK air quality offering.
This is an exceptional opportunity for a commercially minded air quality specialist to step into a senior strategic role-combining technical excellence, business development, and leadership within a forward-thinking, collaborative organisation.
The Role
As Principal Air Quality Consultant, you will lead the delivery of complex air quality and dispersion modelling projects across the UK. You’ll provide strategic direction on high-profile assignments, build and nurture client relationships, and contribute to the wider growth of the division. Working closely with clients, regulators, and planning authorities, you’ll deliver technically robust, influential solutions while supporting the development of a growing consultancy team.
Key Responsibilities

Lead, manage, and coordinate major air quality and dispersion modelling projects

Provide advanced technical input to EIAs and broader environmental assessments

Develop and maintain strong client relationships, identifying and securing new business opportunities

Prepare high-quality tenders, proposals, and commercial strategies

Mentor and support junior and mid-level consultants

Work collaboratively with regulators, planning bodies, and multi-disciplinary project teams
About You

Minimum of 8 years’ experience in air quality consultancy or a related regulatory environment

Strong technical capability with ADMS, AERMOD, and IAQM/EPUK guidance

Proven track record in business development and ongoing client management

Confident leadership skills with experience developing and guiding teams

Degree in Environmental Science, Geography, Chemistry, or a related discipline

Chartered status (CEnv / IAQM) desirable
-
Excellent communication, organisational, and commercial acumen
