Job Title: Principal Air Quality Consultant
Location: Remote – UK Wide
Salary: £60,000 – £70,000 + Benefits
A leading environmental consultancy is seeking an experienced and ambitious Principal Air Quality Consultant to take on a leadership role in expanding its growing UK air quality division. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded consultant with strong business development and technical delivery skills to make a lasting impact, helping to build and shape a new team of air quality specialists.
As a Principal Air Quality Consultant, you’ll lead the delivery of high-profile air quality assessments, dispersion modelling, and EIA support across the UK, while developing new client relationships and securing long-term project opportunities. This fully remote position offers genuine autonomy, strategic input, and the opportunity to establish your own direction within a supportive and forward-thinking consultancy.

Duties for the role of Principal Air Quality Consultant include:

Leading air quality consultancy projects for major infrastructure and development schemes

Developing new business opportunities and expanding client networks

Preparing proposals, bids, and commercial documentation

Mentoring and managing junior consultants as the team grows

Delivering high-quality technical reports and EIA chapters
-
Liaising with regulators, planners, and clients to ensure project success
Skills and experience required for the role of Principal Air Quality Consultant:
-
8+ years’ experience in air quality consultancy or regulation
-
Proven business development and client relationship management skills
-
Strong knowledge of ADMS, AERMOD, and IAQM/EPUK guidance

Experience leading and mentoring technical teams
-
Degree in Environmental Science, Chemistry, Geography, or a related field

Chartered status (CEnv/IAQM) desirable

Excellent communication, commercial awareness, and leadership ability
