A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Structural Engineer (3-4 years of experience) to join a successful Civil and Structural Consultancy based in Essex on a permanent basis. You will be working under the direction of senior staff to produce design calculations in all contemporary building materials with a bias towards residential and commercial buildings. You will be supporting the team in the successful delivery of quality designs and in reward for your hard work you will be offered a competitive starting salary, benefits package and support to become Chartered.

In order to be considered for this Structural Engineer role you will;

* Have gained a Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
* A minimum of 3 years’ experience within an engineering consultancy
* Experience working on residential and commercial buildings would be preferable*
* A passion for building structures
* Ability to use AutoCAD
* Previous experience using SCIA, CADS 3DMax would be beneficial*
* Display a hardworking and proactive approach to work
* Strong communication skills

Main Duties & Responsibilities of this Structural Engineer role include;

* Working efficiently to produce design calculations in all main materials (concrete, steel, masonry & Timber) in support of the project team. Calculations are to be undertaken by hand and computer design programme as instructed by seniors
* Good understanding of Structural Principles and knowledge of material properties and strength
* Assist with preparation of specifications and working drawings
* Preparation of design reports and drawings for Building Control Submission.

Civil Design Technician – Colchester

CIVIL DESIGN TECHNICIAN

Our client is providing a unique opportunity to be involved in a range of schemes from inception through to completion. They deliver projects right across the UK and further afield from bridge inspections to the design, supervision and maintenance of nationally significant road schemes as well as housing development projects. This role will be based at their offices in Colchester.

The purpose of this role is to help produce the schematic/concept designs for one or more of the following

* Highways design projects using AutoCAD and/or Civils 3D
* Drainage design using AutoCAD and/or Micro Drainage

What will the role involve?

* The analysis and design of highways and drainage, progressing to detailed design and approval.
* Involvement in internal project design meetings and preparing correspondence reports.
* Assisting in the production of AutoCAD.and/or Civils 3D drawing information and undertaking quality reviews of drawn information prior to issue.
* Support the senior engineers as and when required.

What are we looking for?

* HNC / HND/Foundation Degree level in a relevant discipline
* Proficient in the use of AutoCAD
* Extensive experience using Civil 3D or Micro Drainage
* Competent in the use of MS Office
* Ability to communicate clearly in writing and verbally
* Experience of delivering competent civil engineering designs
* Experience of the DMRB and local authority design guidelines
* Experience of Cycle by Design, Roads for All and Sustrans Design documents
* Good CAD and traffic modelling skills

Requirements:

· Previous risk assessment training with the Water Management Society, Legionella Control Association Registered Training Provider or City & Guilds.
